Michael Heyns was born in Cape Town,
South Africa in 1970. He completed his high school career at Grey
College in Bloemfontein and matriculated at this highly
acclaimed school in 1987.
Dr. Heyns completed his undergraduate
medical training at the Free State University, obtaining MB
Ch B in 1994. He became a Fellow of the College of Surgeons
of South Africa in 2001 (FCS (SA))
The Douglas Award for most
outstanding achievement in the final examination of the
College of Surgeons of South Africa was awarded in May
2002. He has participated in numerous advanced
laparoscopic training courses in Europe and this is also
where his main interest lies.
Dr. Heyns's primary fields of
surgical
interest is Laparascopic abdominal surgery, Breast surgery and
Cancer surgery.
Whenever Dr. Heyns has an opportunity
to relax he spends his time with his wife, Dr. Lizanne Barry, and
his two darling daughters. His hobbies include playing with his children, spoiling his wife and
playing golf.
